Locating game data from retail or shareware editions
Where you place the SW.GRP file depends on the operating system where you intend to play JFShadowWarrior:
- (Linux, shared with all users)
/usr/local/share/games/jfsw - (Linux, single user)
~/.jfsw - (macOS, single user)
~/Library/Application Support/JFShadowWarrior - (Windows) wherever you've put sw.exe
Where you source the SW.GRP file depends on which retail or shareware edition you have access to:
- MS DOS Registered version CD-ROM
- From the
SWINSTdirectory of the disc. - Classic Redux from GOG on macOS
- To be determined.
- Classic Redux from Steam on macOS
- In Steam, go to Shadow Warrior Classic Redux, open the 'gear' menu, choose Manage > Browse local files. In the Finder window that opened, look within the
gamerootfolder forSW.GRP. - Classic Redux from Humble
- To be determined.
- Classic Complete from GOG.com on macOS
In GOG Galaxy:
- Go to Shadow Warrior Classic Complete > More button > Manage installation > Show folder.
- In the Finder window that opened, right-click (or hold Control and click) the highlighted Shadow Warrior Complete.app item, and choose Show Package Contents.
- From the Go menu choose Go to Folder... and type
Contents/Resources/game/Shadow Warrior.app/Contents/Resources/Shadow Warrior.boxer/C swarrior_files.harddisk. Press Return. - Look for
Sw.grp.
- Classic (1997) from Steam on macOS
- In Steam, go to Shadow Warrior Classic (1997), open the 'gear' menu, choose Manage > Browse local files. In the Finder window that opened, look within the
gamerootfolder forSw.grp. - MS DOS Shareware version
If you have a downloaded file named
3DSW12.ZIP:- Open
3DSW12.ZIPto obtain theSWSW12.SHRfile. - Rename the
SWSW12.SHRfile toSWSW12.ZIP, then uncompress it to obtain theSW.GRPfile.
